The Hobonichi Techo is a Japanese planner with a page for every day. The HON is the hardcover one: the cover is part of the book, so it goes straight into a bag and needs nothing else. This is the A5, in English, starting on Monday.

Its 544 pages run from a year index through monthly calendars and vertical weekly spreads to one full page for each day of 2027, with 14 kinds of bonus pages at the back.

Why people love it
• Tomoe River paper, thin and smooth, takes fountain pen ink and lets sheen and shading show
• Thread stitched, so it opens flat at 180 degrees and stays there
• The 3.7 mm grid suits small handwriting, sketches, stickers and washi tape alike
• A daily page carries a 24 hour time bar, a to-do box, the moon phase and a quote, and still leaves most of the page empty

Cover designs run from plain navy to painted and illustrated artwork, shown above.
